"Important Update for International Students: Changes in Canadian Study Permit Verification Process Starting December 1, 2023!

Attention International Students Applying for Canadian Study Permits!

Starting December 1, 2023, designated learning institutions (DLIs) must verify letters of acceptance (LOA) for overseas study permit applications. Here's a quick summary of the process:

 Verification Process:

  • DLIs will receive a daily email for LOA verification activities in the new portal.
  • DLIs have 10 calendar days (temporarily extended to 15 days) to complete verification.
  • If completed on time, the application will be ready for processing.

 Non-Completion Consequences:

  • If DLIs don't respond, the application will be closed, and the processing fee refunded.
  • DLIs must notify IRCC for extensions due to unforeseen circumstances.

Extension Eligibility: DLIs can request an extension (up to 30 days) for LOA verification due to:

  • Prolonged failure of systems
  • Natural disasters
  • Public health emergencies
  • Labour disputes

 Validation Status Definitions:

  • Verified – Match: Confirmed LOA issued by the DLI.
  • Verified – No Match: Confirmed LOA not issued by the DLI.
  • Cancelled: LOA submitted was cancelled or deferred.

Important Note: Applications received before December 1, 2023, are not part of this process.
